The Chirundu One Stop Border Post (“OSBP”) is the second busiest international border on the North-South Corridor, after Beit Bridge, and is located on the Zambesi River between Zimbabwe and Zambia. This key location was the reason why the World Bank SSATP Programme selected the Zambian/Zimbabwean border post at Chirundu to be converted to a OSBP.

Chirundu Zimbabwe is located in Mashonaland West Province Zimbabwe, south of the Chirundu Zambia border post. It handles all traffic heading south towards the ports of Durban and Maputo.

On 29th July 2024 the Chirundu Border Consortium was awarded the concession to re-develop, upgrade and expand the existing OSBP on the Zimbabwe side (“the Project”). The Project will include the construction, operation and maintenance of the upgraded border post over a 20 year period. The Project is Public Private Partnership (PPP) for a 20 year ‘Build-Operate-Transfer’ (BoT) Concession.
